We trust Jesus Christ through a living relationship (2 Timothy 2:19). After salvation, we become God’s saints, though imperfect. Through God’s grace, we are righteous. We are saved by trusting in Jesus.

As a young Christian, it was difficult to trust God in every area of my life. My finances, family, relationships, and secrets—although God knew them—were areas in which I struggled to surrender complete control to Him. I desired my way while failing to trust God in everything.
I relied on myself. When I had a problem, I felt smart enough to figure it out while reasoning within myself about the best plan, path to take, and workable solution. I didn’t need any help because I was self-sufficient. The word TRUST took on a different meaning after I grew in my faith. It was to live by faith in God alone.
2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we live by faith, not by sight.”
I relied on reasoning that I understood to be the right path to take (Proverbs 3:5–6) in the past. Ideologies and personal beliefs play no role in my Christian Walk. The Bible warns us: “Man’s way may seem right, but it leads to death” (Proverbs 14:12).
Key Points To Develop Trust
- Rely upon God’s promises: Because God’s character never changes, He’s trustworthy (Malachi 3:6). God won’t fail you; He is faithful (Psalm 89:31). Out of His kindness and goodness, he leads in paths of righteousness, refraining from intentions that lead to evil. God has an ultimate plan: to work within your heart and to turn your situation from bad to good (Romans 8:28). By understanding His will, you can grow in trust.
- Rely on God’s wisdom. God has perfect wisdom because He is all-wise. We ask Him for wisdom since He promises to give it without holding back (James1:5). He alone knows the present, past, and what the future holds (tomorrow). Although we hesitate to bring all our cares to Him, beware; He cares and is ready to hear. I hear people say, “God, I don’t want to bother you today with my troubles, so I’ll just let it pass.” Oh! No! God wants us to take all our worries and anxieties to Him (1 Peter 5:7; Philippians 4:6-7). Satan tempts us to question the goodness of God, just like he did Eve in the garden (Genesis 3). When we search for God’s Word, we learn about God’s greatness in wisdom and understanding.
Romans 11:33–35 says, “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!” “How unsearchable are His judgements and His ways past finding out!”
“For who has known the mind of the Lord?”
“Or who has become His counselor?”
“Or who has first given to him?”
“And it shall be repaid to him.”
- Rely upon His power. When you’re weary, worn, and have no strength, turn to God. He will lift you through those dreadful times of troubles — job loss, financial hardships, illness, wherever you are in need. God grants His power to His children — beyond measure, a super-abounding power that is “more than enough.”
Ephesians 1:19-21 says, “How great is His power towards us who believe, according to the mighty power He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, power, might, dominion, and every name, not only in this age but also in that which is to come?”
Whatever your circumstance, you have God’s power—His presence living within, giving aid in your Christian Walk. Learn to lean upon Him.
- Rely on God’s Love: God’s love is beyond comparison to anything. God loves you with no response from you. His love is beyond comprehension. He loves you, no matter what. He never stops loving you because His nature is love.
According to Ephesians 3:17–19, Christ lives in your heart through faith.
His Love Requires Action; It Is Genuine Love (1 John 4:16a)
Have you forgotten His love by relying on something else to fill your heart? Rehearse God’s Word to gain confidence in His love.
- Lean on His care and provision, worry free: Matthew 7:9-11, “What father will give his son a stone if he asks for bread? If he requests a fish, will he receive a serpent? If you, being evil, can give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask?”
- Meet with Him to hear His voice: According to the prophets, “And they shall all receive instruction from God,” as stated in John 6:45. “Therefore, everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.”
- Look forward to a heavenly home: God promises His children a heavenly mansion (John 14:1-3). 2Timothy 1:12b “For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless, I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that day.”
