If I apply the above question to my life, not so great! I’m on the run again! I’m heading back to the grocery store for the third time in a week. Make a list! I already made a list before shopping to ensure I wouldn’t miss anything.
When I got home, I found that soap and toothpaste were missing.
Does this happen to you? Forgetfulness. It can materialize in your life or someone else’s. In finding a system that works, it will help to jar the memory and to achieve common everyday tasks.

Helpful Tips To Trigger Memory
- I use a reminder system, and it works in planning my day. Having a handy piece of paper, notepad, pen, or pencil for creating a to-do list prompts my brain to remember things.
- I check off each item as I complete it, and it gives me a sense of accomplishment when done. What would I do without utilizing online calendars, as they make me aware of business or doctor’s appointments?
- Please keep in mind those text messages as a valuable tool to alert the brain to take action. We live in a world filled with daily responsibilities such as caring for our families, fulfilling job obligations, and participating in recreational activities with our children, all of which contribute to periods of stress and fatigue. We find ourselves unable to think clearly!
It’s time to retreat to a solitary place and refocus attention away from ourselves towards God. For instance, see what Jesus did: NASB, Mark 1:35 says, “In the morning, O LORD, You will hear my voice; in the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch.”

Ponder
God calls us to remember, NASB, Deuteronomy 6:12, “Be careful not to forget the Lord who brought you out of Egypt, that place of slavery.”
Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt. At the Red Sea, God parted the waters, allowing the Israelites to cross on dry ground. When Pharaoh pursued the Hebrews, the entire Egyptian army drowned. Through the wilderness wanderings, on their way to the promised land, God made provision for their needs. When life goes smoothly, it’s easy to forget the past, those answered prayers — how God gave victory through a difficult season.
The Lord understands human nature and the tendency to overlook His goodness. You might think Deuteronomy 6:12 only applies to the nation of Israel. Be it far from the truth. Wait! Jesus tells His disciples in NASB, Luke 22:19, “This is my body, which I have given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” Remember Jesus’ self-giving sacrifice to pay for our redemption.
Tips To Avoid Spiritual Amnesia
- Start the day with thanksgiving : NASB, 1 Thessalonians 5:18. “In everything, give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” By God’s grace, He gives us another day to live and enjoy life. Think about what God did yesterday—a need He met by bringing a person into your pathway to render aid or in some other circumstance.
- Develop a daily routine of prayer: NASB, Psalm 5:3 “In the morning, O LORD, You will hear my voice; in the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch. Record in a journal the prayer request and the date. Review how God answers prayer and rejoice. Prayer remains a powerful weapon to overcome anxieties and worries.
- Find strength during the day by putting your mind upon God’s Word. Choose verses to remind yourself of God’s faithfulness, and it will enable you to minister to others while giving glory to God.
Be mindful to prepare yourself to fight the enemy and incorporate these tips into your everyday living (Ephesians 6:10-17).
