Finding Strength And Joy In Worship
“Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.”
— Psalm 34:3
There is something powerful about the word ‘magnify’. When we magnify something, we make it larger—not because it changes in size, but because our focus changes. Psalm 34:3 invites us to magnify the Lord. It does not mean we make God greater than He already is. He is infinitely great. Rather, we choose to lift Him higher in our vision, in our thoughts, and in our hearts.

David wrote these words during a difficult season of his life. He was not resting in comfort or security. Yet instead of magnifying his fear or circumstances, he chose to magnify the Lord. That choice shifted his perspective.
We do the same thing daily—whether we realize it or not. We magnify what we focus on. If we dwell on problems, they grow in our minds. Uncertainty overshadows hope when we dwell on it excessively. But when we intentionally magnify the Lord—His goodness, His faithfulness, His sovereignty—our worries shrink in comparison to His greatness.
To exalt the Lord is to lift Him above our circumstances. It is a declaration that He is worthy of praise even when life feels unstable. Worship is not denial of hardship; it is a declaration of trust.
There is also a beautiful invitation in this verse: “Let us exalt His name together.” Worship is not meant to be isolated. Yes, there are sacred, private moments between you and the Lord. But there is strength in shared praise. When believers gather to exalt His name, faith is strengthened. Joy is multiplied. Perspective is restored.
Corporate worship reminds us that we are not alone in our struggles. Others are trusting God too. Others are praising Him through their storms. Together, we become witnesses of His faithfulness.

When We Magnify The Lord:
- Our gratitude grows.
- Our fear lessens.
- Our confidence deepens.
- Our joy is renewed.
Worship aligns our hearts with heaven. It pulls our attention away from the temporary and places it firmly on the eternal. It reminds us that God is still on the throne, still at work, and still worthy of praise.
Today, take a moment to magnify Him. Speak His goodness aloud. Reflect on His promises. Sing a song of worship. Thank Him not only for what He has done but for who He is.
You may find your burdens feel lighter—not because they vanished, but because you looked up.
