Putting Our Faith Into Practice Every Day
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…”
— Matthew 28:19
Faith is more than something we believe—it is something we live. While faith begins in the heart, it is meant to be expressed through our actions. Jesus never intended for His followers to simply learn about Him; He calls us to follow Him and share His love with others.
The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19 begins with a simple but powerful word: go. This command reminds us that our faith is not meant to remain within the walls of a church building or confined to our personal devotional time. God calls us to carry His love, truth, and grace into the places where we live, work, and interact with others every day.

Faith That Moves Beyond Words
Many people say they have faith, but biblical faith always produces action. James wrote:
“Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”
— James 2:17
James was not teaching that good works save us. Rather, he was explaining that genuine faith naturally produces good works. When Christ transforms our hearts, our lives begin to reflect His character.
Faith in action means allowing our beliefs to shape our decisions, attitudes, and relationships. It means choosing to trust God when circumstances are difficult, obeying His Word when it is challenging, and serving others when it is inconvenient.
The Christian life was never meant to be passive. God calls us to actively participate in His work by being His hands and feet in a world that desperately needs hope.
Faith In Action Begins At Home
Sometimes we think serving God requires a mission trip, a ministry position, or a large platform. While God certainly calls some people to those opportunities, faith in action often begins much closer to home.
It may look like:
- Showing patience with family members.
- Praying with a spouse or child.
- Caring for an aging parent.
- Encouraging a friend who is struggling.
- Extending forgiveness when someone has hurt us.
The greatest testimony of our faith is often demonstrated in the ordinary moments of everyday life.
Paul reminded believers:
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.”
— Colossians 3:23
Every act of love and service becomes an act of worship when done for God’s glory.

Sharing Christ Through Everyday Opportunities
One of the most effective ways to live out our faith is through simple acts of kindness and compassion.
Jesus said:
“You are the light of the world.”
— Matthew 5:14
Light does not have to announce itself; it simply shines. In the same way, believers are called to reflect Christ through their daily lives.
A smile offered to a stranger, a meal delivered to a neighbor, a handwritten note of encouragement, or a sincere prayer for someone in need can open doors for the gospel.
Many people may never walk into a church building, but they will encounter Christians. The question is: What will they see?
When our actions reflect Christ’s love, others become curious about the hope we possess.
Trusting God With The Results
One reason people hesitate to put their faith into action is fear. We may worry about saying the wrong thing, not knowing enough Scripture, or being rejected.
However, God does not call us to be successful—He calls us to be faithful.
The disciples were ordinary men and women who trusted God and obeyed His leading. They did not have all the answers, but they were willing to go wherever He sent them.
Faith often requires stepping out before we see the entire path.
“For we live by faith, not by sight.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:7
When we trust God with the outcome, we are free to simply obey. He is responsible for producing the fruit. Our responsibility is to remain faithful.
Making An Eternal Difference
It is easy to underestimate the impact of small acts of obedience.
A conversation may plant a seed.
A prayer may encourage a weary heart.
A simple invitation may lead someone to Christ.
A kind gesture may reveal God’s love to a person who feels forgotten.
God often uses ordinary people doing ordinary things to accomplish extraordinary purposes.
Every act of faith matters because God sees what we cannot. He works behind the scenes, using our obedience in ways we may never fully understand this side of heaven.
Living With Purpose
Faith in action means waking up each day with a willingness to be used by God. It means asking:
- Who can I encourage today?
- How can I serve someone this week?
- Where is God leading me to step out in faith?
- How can I reflect Christ in my home, workplace, or community?
When we live with this mindset, every day becomes an opportunity for ministry.
Jesus did not simply tell His disciples to believe—He told them to go. The same call remains for us today.
As followers of Christ, we are called to live what we believe. Through simple acts of obedience, love, and service, we become instruments of God’s grace in the lives of others.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me to live out my faith each day. Open my eyes to opportunities to serve, encourage, and share Your love with those around me. Give me courage to step out in obedience, trusting You to guide my steps and use my efforts for Your glory. Help me to be faithful in both the small and large opportunities You place before me. May my life point others to Jesus. In His name, Amen.
